Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate

ASA is best known for its high impact strength and chemical resistance. This material is great for parts that will need to live outside undergoing the elements, ASA is both UV and water resistant. It’s also great for parts that need to remain strong in the presence of harsh chemicals.

ASA

When to seek other material options

Supports are necessary for printing which can affect the visual quality of the part

If printing for load-bearing situations, print orientation can be important. This can lead to printing in less optimal orientations to ensure structural stability of the part.

Not great at capturing small details

Large, flat pieces have higher failure rates and are prone to warping

Parts have 2-3% shrinkage
